Studio Policy: September 2023-August 2024
Tuition & Business Policies
-- Tuition is $105 per month for 30-minute lessons, $155 for 45-minute lessons, and $210 for hourly lessons. Tuition remains the same September-June regardless of the number of lessons attended or scheduled each month. Lesson payment is due at the first lesson or by the 8th day of each month. If not received by the 8th day of the month, students will incur a $10 late fee. Family discounts are available for 2+ family members taking lessons September through June.
-- Tuition is non-refundable. Tuition is $25 per lesson for 30-minute lessons and $35 per lesson for 45-minute lessons in July and August, payable at the first lesson given.
-- Piano Studio Planning (Sept), Thanksgiving (Nov), and Winter (Dec) breaks are paid and observed. Dates are in each quarterly e-newsletter.
Attendance
-- Monthly tuition payment reserves a time slot so the student is expected to attend lessons at the scheduled time. Make-up lessons are not guaranteed. If there is time available within one week of the missed lesson the teacher will reschedule. Weekend lessons are more flexible. Advanced notice of absences is expected and makes the possibility of rescheduling more likely. Any lesson missed by the teacher will be made up (unless absence is scheduled in the e-newsletter).
-- It is difficult to teach a student who has not regularly practiced or is often absent. Inconsistent attendance and/or practice usually indicates a lack of regularly scheduled practice time, involvement in too many extra-curricular activities, or motivation. Students need a daily distraction-free time to practice with the goal of 4-6 days of practice a week. Time will vary according to student level and assignments. Parental/family support is crucial to the success of each student. The teacher, parent and child need to actively communicate concerns, wishes, and successes within a trio of support. The assignment book is the primary method along with e-mail in which expectations, scheduling reminders, assignments, and progress occur.
-- Students are expected to participate in four yearly scheduled studio performances and encouraged to participate in events presented by the Edmonds Music Teacher's Association and Seattle area. Please let me know in advance if you will be absent from a scheduled performance. Students are also encouraged to participate in talent shows and other performance venues in their school, home (a family and friends music night), church, or community.
Purchase of Music
-- Students are expected to purchase assigned method book music as beginners and literature books at advancing levels. Be sure to buy the most recently published method books.
